Laser Gum Surgery Vs. Osseous Surgery
Osseous surgery is one of the treatment options for advanced gum disease but does have its drawbacks. This procedure involves cutting away the gum tissue and typically involves some downtime. Laser gum surgery, on the other hand, is a scalpel-free procedure. Our patients are excited about the fact that there are no sutures involved. We do not have to refer you out to a periodontist for treatment — everything is performed in house.
One of the biggest benefits of laser gum surgery is that the targeted laser does not cause significant pain or discomfort. Since we only need to treat the infected tissue, healthy tissue remains intact so the treatment area heals quickly. Our patients enjoy the fact that they can just sit back and relax in the dental chair while we get to work clearing their mouth of the infection. Our laser gum disease protocol is efficient, relatively painless and effective.
